Facebook’s Action Links

Facebook today launched Action Links, a new way for people to interact with Timeline apps. The customizable links provide another way for your Facebook friends or Subscribers to do something within your app when your Open Graph stories appear on your Timeline, or in their Ticker and News Feed.

Here is an explanation from Facebook on this new feature:

For example, when someone checks in on foursquare and shares it on their timeline, friends can already like or comment on the resulting post through the links that appear as part of the story. Now with action links, foursquare added another link – “Save this Place” – that enables people to save a place to their foursquare to-do list directly from Facebook. Fab.com allows people to add a product to their own Fab.com favorites with the “Fave this Product” action link.

Facebook says developers “can designate an Action Link for any action they define, which will then appear throughout Facebook.” Think of Action Links as tying one action to another, in other words, and Facebook notes that they can be part of any Open Graph information.

Too many options, it is getting confusing on which call to action to focus on with Timelines, way are your thoughts?

For Facebook or myspace or fb or fb customers, then, Activity Inbound links will seem like simple, under-the-radar changes, observed only in certain circumstances. Since they're app-driven — the announcement is really a heads-up to app-makers — performance right now is just a look of what we'll be able to do later on.

In the meanwhile, it's simple to mix up pre-existing Facebook or myspace or fb or fb performance with Activity Inbound links, which is probably the element. Scrolling through latest up-dates in my nourish, for example, I observed a buddy anticipating another buddy a satisfied wedding. Sure enough, just below the image of a rainbow-colored, frosting-slathered lovely was a “See Friendship” weblink (in the same identify Activity Inbound links appear). But the “See Friendship” weblink, which just reveals you how two individuals have interacted, has been around since 2010. Facebook or myspace or fb or fb is just enhancing nourish, schedule and ticker relationships to designers, in other circumstances.
